The Georgia HOPE Scholarship
Students who receive the HOPE Scholarship must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a resident of Georgia
- Have a cumulative four-year GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher in all academic courses taken during the four years. Core courses include Math, Science, Social Studies, English and Foreign Language. Every course taken in any of these academic areas is included in the calculation.
- Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
The HOPE award covers the cost of tuition at in-state public universities and colleges. It also covers some of the fees associated with attendance and an allowance for books. HOPE scholarships are also awarded to meet up to $3000 of the tuition costs for full-time students at private colleges or universities in the state of Georgia.
Because of the popularity of the HOPE program, more students are attending colleges and universities in the state of Georgia. The competition for admission is stiffer than ever and the number of applications to schools in Georgia is increasing each year. If you meet the admissions requirements and criteria and know that a college in Georgia is your first choice, apply early.
