On-Campus Visits With College Representatives
Many colleges send representatives to our campus to meet with potential students and conduct information sessions for the colleges they represent. These information sessions can be helpful as each of you try to decide where you will make the “best fit.” The following procedure has been established for students to receive permission to meet with college representatives on campus.
As the college representatives make appointments for information sessions here at the school, the college counseling office will update you on who is coming when (via morning announcements, in-class announcements, the school website, and posted notices on the senior bulletin board and in your homeroom).
If you decide that you would like to meet with any college representatives, please follow the steps below:
- At least one day before the meeting, come to the college counseling office for a request form to take to your teacher for permission to meet with the representative during class time. No requests will be granted the day of the representative visit.
- At least one day before the meeting, show the pass to the teacher whose class you will miss. It is up to the teacher to determine if you can afford to miss the class. If you have had excessive absences, are doing poorly in the class, or are scheduled to take a test in that class on the day of the meeting, it may be prudent for the teacher NOT to allow the absence.*
- If the teacher approves your missing the class to meet with the college representative, he/she will sign and date the pass.
- Turn the signed pass in to the college counseling office when you arrive to meet with the representative.
- As usual, you are responsible for any work that you miss in class while you are meeting with the college representative.
*If you want to receive information about the college, but cannot attend the meeting, you must come to the college advisement office and ask us to get the materials for you.
