The school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), which conducts the program, will provide a Letter of Commendation to the school for these scholastically talented seniors. These students will be recognized during the Senior Honors Ceremony at the end of the 2026-2027 academic year in preparation for graduation.
Together with the two National Merit Semifinalists we celebrated last week, Mount de Sales now has five National Merit-recognized students in the Class of 2027—the most recognized in a single class in school history. For more than 150 years, Cavaliers have carried forward a tradition of academic excellence. This year, our five National Merit-recognized students mark a new milestone in that legacy.
Approximately 34,000 Commended Students nationwide are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students are placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
