After serving five years as Athletic Director, Keith Hatcher will transition to the Advancement office to enhance outreach with alumni and other constituents while developing resources for athletic programs and facilities. “Keith, as a graduate of MDS and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church community, is uniquely and perfectly positioned to serve the school in this capacity as we look to deepen our connections with these constituents,” said David Held, MDS president.

During his tenure as AD, Coach Hatcher added a year-round strength and conditioning program for all athletes that has positively impacted athletic teams. He also led an athletic department that won region or area championships in softball, volleyball, wrestling, and football, along with a state championship in softball. In 2020, Coach Hatcher was named GHSA Region 7A Athletic Director of the year.

Coach Hatcher will continue to serve as the head football coach, and Kenny Epps will become the Athletic Director. “I am excited about the opportunity to positively impact the school in a new position,” said Coach Hatcher. “Kenny, as the new AD, will do a great job of continuing to build on our positive momentum in athletics.”  Although the transition will take place on July 1, Coach Hatcher is already connecting with alumni to coordinate class reunions as part of the 2021 Cavalier Celebration and planning for future athletic facility needs.
