[Macon, Georgia] – Catholic private school, Mount de Sales Academy located in Macon, Georgia hosted its annual canned food drive on campus on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Each year, Mount de Sales Academy holds a food drive on campus to benefit Macon’s St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Mount de Sales Academy has been helping to stock their shelves for many years and it is an annual Thanksgiving tradition. The Cavalier Canned Food Drive runs from November 11-22. This year’s goal has been to collect 10,000 cans; Mount de Sales exceeded this goal one day early with a final tally of 11,037 items. Students and faculty gather for a morning Thanksgiving prayer service, then work together to fill a box truck that is transported by the school directly to those in need.

Mount de Sales Mercy in Action Coordinator Kim Andrews states, “Today is one of my favorite days to be a Cavalier!  As a Mercy school, we are called to share God’s love with our neighbors, and this food drive is a beautiful way to live out that mission. What fills my heart with joy is the wholehearted participation of our school family—driven not by rewards, but by a genuine desire to bring mercy and love to our community. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a compassionate and generous community!”

President Brendan O’Kane also states, “This is who we are. Cavaliers answer the call to serve, as Matthew 25 challenges us to do. Time and again, our students and families step up, caring for our community. It’s inspiring—and it’s part of what makes this place so special.”
