[Macon, Georgia] –
Catholic private school, Mount de Sales Academy, located in Macon, Georgia, hosted its annual canned food drive on campus on Friday, November 21, 2025. This year’s goal has been to collect 15,000 cans in celebration of the school’s 150th academic year. Mount de Sales exceeded this goal with a final tally of 15,112 items.
Each year, Mount de Sales Academy holds a food drive on campus to benefit Macon’s St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Mount de Sales Academy has been helping to stock its shelves for many years, and it is an annual Thanksgiving tradition. The Cavalier Canned Food Drive ran from November 10-21. Students and faculty gather for a morning Thanksgiving prayer service, then work together to fill a box truck that the school transports directly to those in need.
Mount de Sales Mercy in Action Coordinator Kim Andrews states, “Today is one of my favorite days to be a Cavalier! As a Mercy school, we are called to share God’s love with our neighbors, and this food drive is a beautiful way to live out that mission.”
President Brendan O’Kane also states, “At Mount de Sales Academy, service is at the core of what it means to be a Cavalier. For nearly 150 years, our school community has answered the call to serve here in Macon, and this year’s food drive is yet another reminder of that legacy.”
