Sara received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Middle Georgia State University and her Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary Education) from Georgia College and State University. Sara is a MDS alum, class of 2012. Ever since childhood, Sara played softball. At MDS, Sarah played second base and short-stop for five years. Her passion for softball led her to play three years of collegiate softball at Wesleyan College.  After college, Sara served as the infield coach for two years for the Wesleyan Wolves.

Outside of the academic world, Sara enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband have been married for three years and they welcomed their first baby over the summer. Sara’s family is a loyal supporter of the Braves and they also enjoy attending car shows.

Rosalyn Simpson, US Math

Rosalyn states, “I am so glad to be back at MDS where I graduated in 2015.” Rosalyn is a Mercer University graduate with a degree in Secondary Math Education. She has loved math since she was in elementary school. Rosalyn was active in the band for six years and played the clarinet; she was drum major of the marching band her senior year.

Rosalyn has stay connected to the SJS/MDS community through her involvement with SJS summer camp for twelve years! She began as a volunteer in middle school, eventually moved up to a teacher, and has served as a director for the past three years. Rosalyn has a rescue dog, Lexie, and she enjoys taking Lexie on walks and trying to teach her new tricks. Her hobbies include playing video games, golf, and baking sweets!

Heather Russell, Fine Arts
Courses: Middle School Chorus, Concert Choir, Chorale

Heather graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. As a child, she “was intensely aware that I had a deeper appreciation for music and singing. I had an amazing chorus teacher who inspired me to follow in her footsteps.” Heather was a member of Georgia Southern Chorale, one of the top choirs in the United States. As such, she traveled to Austria and Germany and performed at one the most prestigious choral competitions in the world.

Heather enjoys being lazy and watching movies with her two cats, Joon and Figaro. She adores cooking and tasting food from different cultures. Most of all, she loves to spend time with friends and boyfriend, Agustin. According to Heather, “We are both expecting pattering feet this September; four to be exact! We are patiently awaiting the arrival of our golden retriever puppy who we will ‘Fiona.’”
