We also offer our Junior Cavalier League which introduces children to the Mount de Sales athletic program in a positive environment that stresses fun, safety, player involvement, and respect for opponents. When: June 11-15 and June 18-22; 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with drop-off as early as 7:30 a.m. and pick up as late as 5:30 p.m.

Creative Writing Camp
From short stories to memoirs and poetry to play writing, campers in rising 8th through 12th grade have the opportunity to learn the elements and fundamentals of the creative writing process, including character development, descriptive writing styles, and peer-to-peer constructive evaluations. Aspiring writers will create original works in various genres during the week. Campers will come away with a solid foundation in the art of creative writing.
When: June 4-8, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Mr. Lux’s writings have been featured in various publications including the Saint Austin Review, The Penwood Review, and The Christian Review. He has also had writing published in the literary magazine Agora.
Boost! Language Arts Camp
Students in rising 8th through 10th grade will enhance their grammar skills and become proficient in writing and reading during this week-long camp. Activities are designed to increase know-how in essential language arts topics, boosting campers’ performance and confidence in literary analysis, grammar concepts, and writing composition.
When: June 11-15, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Who: 8th-10th graders
Mr. Lux teaches College English, ESOL, and English I. He has been teaching English for four years. Before coming to Mount de Sales, Mr. Lux created and taught SAT and ACT preparation courses for Solution Skills Tutoring Services in Tallahassee, Florida. He also owns an online business where he provides individualized writing instruction.
The three-week program for students in first through sixth grades begins Monday, October 22, 2018 with practice or games each Monday and Thursday from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. until Thursday, November 8.
On game days, coaching staff and former players conduct 20 to 30-minute instructional practices followed by short-sided games (3v3, 4v4 or 5v5). All practices and games will take place at Cavalier Fields on our soccer fields.
Cost: $65* (includes MDS soccer t-shirt and ball)

Flag Football for First and Second Graders – Flag football is a great way for the beginners to get started and have fun playing the game. It is played on a smaller field, and it’s a great introduction to the game with no contact. There will be games played in-house to introduce the boys to playing in a competitive
Junior Division Tackle Football for Third and Fourth Graders – The Junior Division is great for those getting started in tackle football. There will be great emphasis on learning the fundamentals of the game, such as blocking and tackling, and the teaching will be very introductory. They will participate in league including other Macon schools.
Senior Division Tackle Football for Fifth and Sixth Graders – The Senior Division is a great way to develop your skills as you prepare for middle school and high school football. The Senior Division will compete in a league including other Macon schools, and we will continue to emphasize fundamentals as they further develop their skills.
In each league, the coach’s will emphasize teaching the game in a positive way, and each player on the team will participate in all games and practices. MDS varsity football players will be coaching all teams. Practices will primarily be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00PM – 7:30PM, but some games will be on Mondays as well. We will try our best to avoid any Wednesday s and/or weekends.
