Boys and Girls Varsity Tennis: Coach Adrienne Hixon

The Cavaliers were dedicated to the team, even with academic commitments and other activities such as the spring musical that is presented each year during the tennis season. Coach Hixon thanks all seniors for their contributions to Mount de Sales tennis through the years.

George Pearson
4-year varsity team member; MDS #1 boys singles player; GHSA All-Area Team in 2019

Coach Hixon: “George always plays hard-hitting, hard-fought matches that are fun to watch. He has worked hard over the past four years to grow his tennis game and to be a top player.”

Ethan Rimando
4-year varsity team member; Singles and doubles

Coach Hixon: “Ethan has always been willing to do whatever the team needed and represented MDS well. He played many long singles matches that have given us the win we needed to move on to state playoffs. Ethan is always composed, high-flying and consistent in any match he plays.”

Matthew Smith
4-year varsity team member; MDS #1 doubles team with brother, Benjamin; GHSA All-Area Team selection in 2018 and 2019

Coach Hixon: “Matthew has played singles for the team as well, but the brothers-duo is too good to separate in major competition. Not only does he play tennis well, Matthew loves to sing, mainly on any bus ride we take.”

Benjamin Smith
4-year varsity team member; MDS #1 doubles team with brother, Matthew; GHSA All-Area Team selection in 2018 and 2019

Coach Hixon: “Benjamin has a cool, calm demeanor no matter the situation and never gets upset while competing.”

Caroline Burns
4-year varsity team member; Singles and doubles

Coach Hixon: “Carrie started out playing doubles for the team, and over the past two seasons has worked hard on her game to take on singles. She had improved so much that she had begun to compete with more confidence each match. She is easy to coach and always has a positive attitude while playing or being instructed. Caroline has worked hard to improve the pace and placement of her shots to win more matches.”

Mary Margaret Smith
4-year varsity team member; Doubles

Coach Hixon: “Not only has Mary Margaret’s tennis game improved through training and competing, she also has overcome two separate foot surgeries over the years. Each time she worked hard with her physical therapy to ensure she would be ready for the season. She has always been willing to play with whoever was best to be her partner at the time and is a great leader on the court.”

Carrie Wagner:
4-year varsity team member; MDS #1 girls singles player

Coach Hixon: “Carrie has done a great job competing and representing MDS each and every match. She has improved year to year, and I know she would have finished strong this season. Carrie always competed fairly and with great character.”
