[Macon, Georgia] – Catholic private school, Mount de Sales Academy located in Macon, Georgia will welcome guest speaker and retired United States Navy four-star admiral, William Henry McRaven for the school’s honor ceremony held on Thursday August 17, 2023.

McRaven served as the ninth commander of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) from August 8, 2011 to August 28, 2014 and is credited for organizing and overseeing the execution of Operation Neptune Spear, the special ops raid that located Osama Bin Laden on May 2, 2011. McRaven retired after a 37-year career in the military and holds many awards and medals for his accomplishments.

More recently, Admiral McRaven has published two books entitled, The Hero Code: Lessons Learned From Lives Well Lived and The Wisdom Of The Bullfrog: Leadership Made Simple (But Not Easy). In 2014, McRaven gave a commencement address for the University of Texas at Austin that received almost 60,000,000 views on Youtube which has been described as “inspiring” and has become an influential tool in modern culture especially for students.

Mount de Sales Academy administration has described Admiral McRaven as genuine and inspiring and looks forward to hosting him to speak with students this week.
