STAR student Aidan Hintermaier and his STAR teacher, Georgia Olson.

Senior Aidan Hintermaier has been recognized as a 2018 Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Student. Aidan chose to honor MDS science teacher Georgia Olson as his STAR Teacher. To obtain the STAR nomination, students must have the highest score in a single sitting on the three-part SAT taken through the November test date of their senior year, and be in the top ten percent or among the top ten students of their class, based on grade point average.

Though he enjoys both math and science, and feels you cannot have one without the other, Aidan credits Mrs. Olson with his love for science. “I did not see chemistry at all as part of my plans,” he says. All that changed when he started enjoying Mrs. Olson’s class, and not just honors chemistry, but AP chemistry, and honors organic chemistry as well. Mrs. Olson says that Aidan works at the speed of light, is incredibly helpful to his classmates, and tells the best chemistry jokes. We are extremely proud of them both!
