Senior Sophia Rumley is known to the campus community as an athlete, but she has shown great focus on art this year. Whenever we think she’s made her best art of the month, she creates another inspired work. Sophia was among a few select MDS artists to submit work for this year’s 2018 Congressional Art Competition.

Giovanni Ochoa comes from a family of very creative people. He is in the process of creating art for a gallery and has shown his art at a variety of venues in the area. Giovanni takes his inspiration from the work of German artist Gerhart Richter. He uses large-scale color field abstraction with unusual detail work. Giovanni won recognition at the Mount de Sales Celebration of the Arts spring art show in the charcoal category. He also submitted art to the Congressional Art Competition.
