Each year budding young authors and poets submit creative writing samples that student editors compile into the Page Break publication. The wonderful creativity of our students, which is nurtured by our English and fine arts faculty, is evident in their short stories, poems, and artwork.
In selecting pieces to be published, students consider a balance of visual art and written pieces, seek good quality of work, and strive for a variety of media and genres.  According to faculty advisor Eileen Carlson, the literary magazine gives upper school students opportunities to see their writing and art published and gives them an audience for their work.  Through the publication process students develop organization, management, and teamwork skills.
A compilation of student work has been published at MDS for decades although its name has changed through the years, among them: Inklings, Cavalier Cavalcade, and The Hard CopyClick here to read the 2020 Page Break.
