Creative Writing Camp

From short stories to memoirs and poetry to play writing, campers in rising 8th through 12th grade have the opportunity to learn the elements and fundamentals of the creative writing process, including character development, descriptive writing styles, and peer-to-peer constructive evaluations. Aspiring writers will create original works in various genres during the week. Campers will come away with a solid foundation in the art of creative writing.

Faculty moderator: Mr. Lux has a master’s in English and teaches English at Mount de Sales Academy. His writings have been featured in various publications including the Saint Austin Review, the Penwood Review, and The Christian Review. He has also had writing published in the literary magazine Agora.

BOOST! LANGUAGE ARTS CAMP

Students in rising 8th through 10th grade will enhance their grammar skills and become proficient in writing and reading during this week-long camp. Activities are designed to increase know-how in essential language arts topics, boosting campers’ performance and confidence in literary analysis, grammar concepts, and writing composition.

When: June 11-15, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

At Mount de Sales, Mr. Lux teaches College English, ESOL, and English I. Before coming to Mount de Sales, Mr. Lux created and taught SAT and ACT preparation courses for Solution Skills Tutoring Services in Tallahassee, Florida. He also owns an online business where he provides individualized writing instruction.
