Mount de Sales encourages academic excellence, service to one’s community, and inclusivity among students. The graduating class of 2019 included more than 100 young men and women who now attend a variety of colleges and universities across the United States. In our Five Faces Feature, you will get to know several of our youngest alumni who were nominated by faculty and staff as outstanding representatives of Mount de Sales Academy.

Dallas Childs grew up as a St. Peter Claver Cougar and entered MDS as a freshman. He filled his four years as a Cavalier with activities such as PAGE Break literary magazine, Cavalier Ambassadors, and the Senior Transition Experience (STEP) with Navicent Health.  Dallas was fortunate to see the real-life connections chemistry has in the medical field during the STEP experience where he toured the Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, as well as the Emergency Room, Ambulance and Transport Centers, and the Autism Center.

His honors include membership in the National Honor Society and Beta Club. In addition to academic honors, Dallas constantly served the MDS and Macon communities. He volunteered at Camp Cougar at St. Peter Claver, Macon Outreach, Daybreak, and St. Paul’s apartments. Dallas also found a passion playing the piano in eleventh grade. He is learning to sight read and continued his classical musical education this summer.

Mrs. Ashley Griffin, director of admissions, boasts about Dallas’ work as a Cavalier Ambassador. “I had the pleasure of working with Dallas for three years; he was one of my favorite students! Dallas never hesitated to volunteer for special events, no matter what I was in need of. He always wore a smile on his face — in the hot sun, talking to potential parents, and interacting with children. Dallas is dedicated, dependable, and trustworthy and has a beautiful and kind spirit. He represented Mount de Sales extremely well, and we are all better people for knowing him.”

Dallas attends Fisk University where he plans to major in chemistry and become a pharmacist.
