Dr. Douglas Hill, director of undergraduate studies and coordinator of the Music Education Program at Mercer University’s Townsend School of Music, donated a large selection of music method books for the Mount de Sales Academy band program. John Lincourt, the Academy’s band director, will include the donated books as part of the band curriculum.
The books are especially helpful to middle school students who range from beginner to intermediate level in their pursuit of learning an instrument. “Students who show a great interest in mastering their playing skills and performing in the band will gain a lot from studying these books. A large variety of material is available to them, whether they are focused on strings, woodwinds, or brass,” said Lincourt.
